Use ONLY 3x5 index cards. Use white cards for items that will be 1/2 price on Saturday.Use any other color index
cards for items not 1/2 price on Saturday. No Post-It notes, stickers or odd sized index cards. No Neon Pink cards.
Information should be listed on the cards as indicated in the example to the right. Fill out each tag completely. Use
your initials and the last 4 digits of your phone number as your seller number (e.g., ABC-1234).If you DO NOT want
an unsold item back, write "Donate." If you DO want an unsold item returned, and can pick it up at the designated
time, write "Pick-Up." Write the size in numbers (not SMALL or LARGE). Indicate slim or husky with an S or H after the
size. Write a detailed description of the item being sold so that your item can be distinguished from similar items should
the tag come off. Do not make any changes to your tags. Instead, complete a new tag. This is for your protection.
The information on your seller tag is the KEY to your payment. PRINT neatly and pin or tape carefully. Use 1 inch or larger
safely pins to pin on tags. No straight pins, small gold safety pins, clothes pins, staples or paper clips. Do not hole punch your tags.
You determine the price of your items. A good rule of thumb is 1/4 to 1/3 of the original price. Remember, this is a consignment sale, not a garage sale. Items should be priced higher than garage sale prices. PRICE YOUR ITEMS IN 50¢ INCREMENTS. NO 75¢ PLEASE! ALL ITEMS MUST BE PRICED $1.00 OR MORE BEFORE THE HALF-PRICE SALE. Remember: if YOU wouldn't buy it... don't bring it!
Tagging Clothing
Safety pin tags to the upper right side of the garment as it is facing you. Place the pin horizontally and catch the tag and garment twice. (See example, left.) Please fasten all buttons and snaps to show that they are in working order. Hangers should be facing left. (See example, left.)
Safety pin 2 or more items together so they will not get separated. Safety pin pants and shorts to the top arm of the hanger so they do not slide. Sets must be safety pinned together.
Tagging Other Items
Place all items in zip lock bags and tape them shut. Safety pin tags to the top right hand corner of zip lock bags. Do not put tags inside the bag.
Shoes: For added security, write your seller number, size, description and price on a piece of masking tape and place on the soles of shoes.
Shoes should be secured by the shoelaces with a safety pin or ribbon. Pin the tag to this area. Do not put shoes in zip lock bags.
There is a 5 pair limit on shoes.
No rubber pants, underwear or maternity bras accepted unless new in package.
Tagging Large Items
Gather and clean toys, nursery equipment and other items.
Do not bring car seats that have been recalled or are more than 5 years old. FUMC Kids Closet is not liable for the condition of car seats or any car seats that have been recalled. Call 1-888-327-4236 or go to www.nhtsa.gov for car seat recall information.
Straps and covers of car seats must be clean.
Computer games, CDs, DVDs, games and puzzle boxes must be taped shut.
If a toy or game has several pieces, please put them in a zip lock bag and tape it closed.
Consider putting batteries in items requiring them. Items do not sell well when a buyer can't tell if the item works.
Securely tape ONLY THE TWO SHORT SIDES OF THE TAG ON ITEMS THAT YOU ARE UNABLE TO PIN. Clear packing tape works well.
Please keep in mind that the tag must be secured but also REMOVABLE without being torn.
